- Returning to action with Keith Kunz Motorsports over the weekend for two more Lucas Oil POWRi Series events, Blake Carrick would continue to run well as he highlighted his weekend with a seventh place finish on Saturday night in Macon, IL.
“It was a good weekend, and I had a lot of run,” Blake Carrick said. “It’s been fun improving each and every time I hit the track.”
Jacksonville Speedway was first on the docket for the weekend and the youngster from Lincoln, CA would line up in the fourth row of his heat race aboard the Walker Performance/TRD powered Spike.
Picking up a couple of valuable passing points, Carrick would finish fifth in his heat race and would transfer directly to the feature event where he would grid the field from the 16th starting position.
On a track that was tough to make up ground on, Carrick would find himself working his way forward as he crept towards the Top-10. Running a very patient race and taking things as they came to him, Carrick would close his Friday night out with an 11th place finish.
Friday night also saw Carrick aboard a Micro. Finishing third in his heat race, Carrick would move into the feature event where he would line up in the seventh starting position.
Having the advantage of also competing in a midget on this night, Carrick was able to take some of what he had learned and use it in the Micro feature as he worked his way up to third. Late in the race, Carrick would have some bad luck as mechanical issues would end his night just two laps short of the checkered flag.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Macon, IL and Carrick would again do double duty in a Midget and a Micro.
Lining up in the third row of his Midget heat, Carrick would get a couple of positions on a tacky track as he finished third and again qualified for the feature directly out of his heat race.
Taking the green flag from the 12th starting spot in the ‘A’, Carrick would jump up top and rip off some good laps as he would find himself battling with older brother, Tanner during the duration of the race.
Able to win the battle, Carrick would take the checkered flag with a seventh place finish on this night.
In Micro action, Carrick would start and finish fifth in his heat race before winning the semi. In the feature he would line up in the 18th starting position and gain a few spots as he ended up finishing 15th.
“I really can’t thank the crew and my teammates enough for all of their help,” Carrick added. “I hope I can continue to improve mentally and physically each and every week and keep improving our finishes.”
Blake Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Walker Performance Filtration, TRD, and Spike Chassis for their support.
