Blake Carrick Charges To Ninth at Placerville Speedway

One week removed for challenging the King of the West 410ci sprint cars as Placerville Speedway, Blake Carrick returned to the track nestled in the foothills on an even playing field and he flexed his muscle as he charged to a ninth place finish on Saturday night.

“Unfortunately time trials put us in an early hole, but thankfully we had a car that raced pretty well and we were able to fight forward and get another Top-10,” Blake Carrick said.

Timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38 machine in 21st fastest in time trials, the Lincoln, CA product would line up in the third row of his heat race. From the sixth starting position, Carrick would run very hard on the ¼ mile bullring as he forged his way into the fourth spot and transferred directly into the 25-lap feature event.

Lining up in the ninth row, Carrick would quickly go to work on the very racy Placerville Speedway surface. Jumping into 15th on the second lap, Carrick would work his way into 14th on the fourth lap and ran there until the caution flew on lap eight moving him to 13th.

The ensuring restart would see a bunch of cars tangle up, and Carrick would do some swift work at the wheel to avoid the chaos as he was able to sneak through with no issues.

Back underway, Carrick now found himself up in the Top-10, and battling for more. Working up as high as sixth, Carrick would lose a couple of positions to some drivers charging back through the field as he would pocket another Top-10 finish at Placerville Speedway as he would take the checkered flag in ninth.

“We were pretty racy in the feature, and got up near the Top-Five,” Carrick said. “I just made a couple of mistakes and we ended up ninth. Still a really good night, and I am happy to get another Top-10.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support
