>> Fresh off of a pair of a pair of POWRi Top-10’s at Lake Ozark over the Labor Day Weekend, Blake Carrick returned to the seat of a potent Keith Kunz Midget in Illinois over the weekend where he would finish 11th on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, and 10th on Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway.
“It is an amazing opportunity each time I can get in a Keith Kunz Midget and learn,” Blake Carrick said. “The team is extremely knowledgeable and my teammates are great in helping me figure these cars out.”
Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, the younger of the Carrick brothers would line his Walker Filtration/TRD/Spike Chassis entry up in the fourth row of his heat race.
Earning valuable passing points, Carrick would finish sixth which moved him into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the 14th starting position. On a racy track, Carrick would work his way towards the Top-10 where he would find himself battling fellow KKM drivers, Sam Johnson and Maria Cofer.
Able to get by Cofer, Carrick would end up just behind Johnson at the stripe as he capped his night with an 11th place finish.
Saturday night would see the scene shift to Spoon River Speedway where Carrick would draw well and line up on the front row of his heat race. Taking on some stiff competition, Carrick would slip back a little as he would finish in fifth which placed him in the 14th starting position for the feature event.
When the feature event rolled around, the California native would get to work as he began picking off cars on his way into the Top-10. Getting into the Top-10 late, Carrick would hold steady as he took the checkered flag in 10th giving him his fifth Top-10 finish aboard a midget in just his 12th start.
“It is great to run well and move forward against the caliber of drivers we race against,” Carrick said. “It is pretty cool that I get to work with Keith Kunz and his team, and am thankful to do this.”
Blake Carrick and the Keith Kunz Motorsports team would like to thank Walker Performance Filtration, TRD, and Spike Chassis for their support.
