Blake Carrick Makes Thunderbowl Raceway Debut During 25th Annual Trophy Cup

Cutting his first ever laps at Thunderbowl Raceway over the weekend, Blake Carrick had a very nice showing as he took on 87 other competitors during the 25th Annual Trophy Cup.

“It was my first time racing at Tulare, and it was one of the biggest races of the year but I was pleased with how things went and how comfortable I seemed to get as the weekend progressed.

Competing in his familiar Carrick Motorsports entry, Carrick would carry the number 69 on this weekend competing in a sport reserved for BK Motorsports and the legendary Brent Kaeding.

Learning on the fly at the daunting 1/3 mile oval, Carrick would time in 27th quickest on Thursday night before a seventh place finish placed him in one of the night’s twin ‘B’ Mains.

Going up against a very strong field of cars in the semi, the Lincoln, CA driver held his own aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 69 machine as he brought his night to a close with a 15th place finish.

Returning to action on Friday night, Carrick would time in a tick slower on this night as he would end up 32nd overall on the speed charts before nearly mirroring his ‘B’ Main showing from the night before as he would finish 16th on this night.

Not having quite enough points to qualify for a Saturday night heat race, Carrick would find himself in the second row of a ‘D’ Main, where he would need to finish inside the Top-Four to move into the Saturday night ‘C’.

With the track a little hooked up early in Saturday night’s program, Carrick would settle into fourth as he looked to be on his way to the ‘C’. Late in the 10-lap affair, Carrick would bobble on the cushion and it would let Jace Vander Weerd by and knock him out of the fourth and final transfer.

Carrick would wind up closing his Trophy Cup out with a fifth place finish in the ‘D’.

“I have to thank Brent Kaeding for his help and getting us in the race,” Carrick said. “I also have to thank Clark Riolo and my crew for working so hard and helping me get comfortable on a new track.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support
