Making the trip to nearby Marysville Raceway on Saturday night to take part in the Toller Memorial, Blake Carrick would have a great night behind the wheel as he picked up a third place finish.

“It was a fun night, and good to get a lot of laps in,” Blake Carrick said. “I made some mistakes, but when it was all said and done we came home with a nice finish.”

Despite weather drenching the area in the week leading up to the race, track officials worked diligently to get the program in, and Carrick was there to take full advantage.

Running a two-heat format on this night, Carrick would line the CVC/Cemex/Arai backed entry up on the front row of his first heat race. Getting off to the early lead, Carrick looked strong out front though he had veteran ace, Andy Forsberg chasing after him.

The last lap would see Forsberg get the better of the youngster and he would come home with a second place finish.

Carrick’s second heat race would see him start scratch on the field, though he would make some quick moves early in this one and again find himself leading the way. Making a slight mistake on the white flag lap, Carrick would lose the top spot and again finish second.

Lining up fifth in the Dash, the Lincoln, CA youngster would continue to show some great speed on the ¼ mile bullring as he worked his way up into the second position. Chasing after Andy Forsberg, Carrick would lose the handle on his machine and spin out before finishing fourth.

Moving into the 20-lap feature event, Carrick would jump into third from his fourth starting position as he gave chase to the early leader, Forsberg, and second running Koen Shaw.

In a fast paced feature event, Passing would prove to be tough after rain showered the track earlier in the night. Running 20-laps in just over six minutes, Carrick would close his night out on the podium as he finished third.

“Good to get back in the car after running Stockton a few weeks ago,” Carrick said. “Thanks to my team for all their hard work. Looking forward to Chico, CA in a couple of weeks.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
