B-Main Tumble Ends Blake Carrick’s Night in Placerville, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to be a fixture at Placerville Speedway on a weekly basis, Blake Carrick returned to action at the ¼ mile bullring on Saturday night, but had a tough go as a tumble in the ‘B’ ended his night early.

“We didn’t get timed in well, but almost dug out of it in our heat race,” Blake Carrick said. “Unfortunately in the “B”, I got going trying to get into a transfer spot and got upside down.”

With 32 cars on hand Saturday night as the track came back to life for the first time in a couple of Saturday’s, Carrick got off to a bit of a rough start as he ended up timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 28th quick in time trials.

Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver nearly made his way directly into the feature event, but as he got into fifth he could not find away into the fourth and final transfer position and was forced in the 12-lap ‘B’.

Needing to finish inside the Top-Four to transfer into the 25-lap finale, Carrick had his work cut out for himself as he took the green flag from the 13th starting position. Taking advantage of a couple of cars getting out of sorts on the start of the race, Carrick would be quick to capitalize as he was able to jump up into the seventh position when it all got sorted out.

Working into sixth, Carrick would be within striking distance of a transfer position in the early laps, but trouble on the fifth lap resulted in him getting over in turns three and four and bringing his night to an early end.

“Thanks to my guys for working hard all night long,’ Carrick said. “It is never good to tear equipment up, but we will get it back together and try again this week.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick is unsure of weekend plans at the time of press.
