Blake Carrick 11th at Ocean Speedway Friday Night

Updated: Jul 30, 2019

Spending his weekend at Ocean Speedway taking part in both nights of the Howard Kaeding Classic, Blake Carrick’s 11th place run during Friday’s 360ci program would highlight his weekend.

“Friday night we were able to get in the show and move forward a little bit,” Blake Carrick said. “Saturday night, I just didn’t get a good time trial and it pretty much buried us all night long.”

Kicking the weekend off with the Ocean Sprints pres. by Taco Bravo on Friday, the youngster from Lincoln, CA timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38b machine in 13th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Moving into heat race action, Carrick would be in the hunt to pick up the win and earn a Dash berth, but he would come up just short as his second place finish would still be good enough to move him directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Having his work cut out for himself from the inside of the eighth row, Carrick would slowly work his way forward as he sat just outside of the Top-10 looking for a way in.

Battling with Tony Gualda and Geoff Ensign late in the race, Carrick couldn’t clear Gualda for a Top-10 as he took the Ed Entz Checkered flag with an 11th place finish.

Saturday night Ocean Speedway was again the scene as Carrick went to battle with the King of the West Series.

A 27th quick time trial would put Carrick in a pretty big hole to start the night, and unfortunately he was unable to dig himself out.

Finishing seventh in his heat race, Carrick moved into the ‘B’ where he took the green from the eighth starting position.

On a narrow surface that had been touched up prior, passing would be ultra tough on this night as Carrick would only get up to sixth as his night concluded in the semi.

“Saturday night, we just couldn’t go anywhere in the ‘B’,” Carrick said. “It was pretty narrow for us, and things were tough. A little disappointing end to the weekend, but now we look to get back on track at Placerville Speedway Saturday.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support.

ON TAP: Blake Carrick is scheduled to take part in the Mark Forni Classic on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
