Blake Carrick 11th During First Bradway Memorial

PETERSEN MEDIA: Cutting his first laps with a 410ci power plant bolted into his Carrick Racing No. 38B machine over the weekend in Chico, CA, Blake Carrick would take what he learned on Friday night, and translate it to an 11th place finish with the King of the West Series on Saturday night during the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.

“It was a really good weekend, a lot of learning went on,” Blake Carrick said. “Had some fun running my first two 410 races, and think it went well overall considering who we were racing against.”

Following a 14th place effort on Friday night after taking the green flag from the 20th starting position, Carrick was poised to improve against the ultra competitive King of the West Series on Saturday night as he took part in his first Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.

Coming out swinging on Saturday, Carrick got his night off to a great start as he timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials, putting him in a great position for the duration of the night.

Taking the green flag from the second row in his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would finish fourth and punch his ticket directly into the 40 lap feature event where he would line up in the eighth starting position.

Going wheel to wheel with some of the best in the region, Carrick would go to school at times as he slipped back to the 16th spot as he figured out the tricky ¼ mile that was offered up on this night.

Getting going on the low side of the speedway, Carrick would slowly work his way forward as he picked up positions that he lost early in the race.

Showing patience and poise, Carrick would close the weekend out by finishing 11th in one of the regions most prestigious races of the season.

“Big thanks to my team, and my family for working hard, and giving me a shot in a 410,” Carrick said. “Had a blast, and can’t wait to do it again.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick and company will return to action this weekend as they are set to make a trip to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night and Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA on Saturday.
