PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to kick off the track’s weekly point season, Blake Carrick bettered himself by a few positions from a week ago as he finished 13th in the feature event.
“It was good to get back up to Placerville Speedway and get back after it,” Blake Carrick said. “I feel like we are getting better and better each and every night there.”
With 27 cars checked into kick off the weekly point season at the track nestled in the foothills, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in 13th quickest in time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA product would battle with Tony Gualda for the top spot in his heat race, but would come up just short as he finished in the second position.
By way of his second place finish, Carrick would move into the feature event though would miss out on the redraw and find himself back in the 13th starting position for the 25-lap ‘A’ Main feature event.
When the race came to life, Carrick would slip back a few positions as he found himself mired deep in the field and back in the 17th position. On a fast surface, Carrick would continue to run back in 17th until the race’s first caution flag flew on the 14th lap.
The ensuing restart saw the youngster make a nice move to work into 15th, before taking over the 14th position one lap later. Settling into a groove during the last green flag run of the race, Carrick would turn his fastest lap of the night on the 18th lap as he continued to run 14th.
Taking advantage of a late red, Carrick would pick up a position on the race’s final restart with just two laps to go, and capped his night with a 13th place finish as he chased Zane Blanchard across the finish line.
“We kind of struggled early in the feature, but we got better as the race went on,” Blake Carrick said. “Thanks to Clark and everyone that works hard on our car.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
