PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending his weekend in Stockton, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Blake Carrick would finish 17th in Friday night’s ‘A’, before an engine issue during heat race competition on Saturday brought his weekend to a close.
“It definitely isn’t fun to hurt an engine, but I felt pretty good in the laps I was able to turn,” Blake Carrick said.
Friday night, Carrick timed his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in seventh during time trials. Lining up seventh in his heat race, ‘Bob” would get rolling as he pocketed the fifth and final transfer into the 30-lap feature event.
Based on his heat race run, the Lincoln, CA driver would have his work cut out for himself as he took the green flag from the 20th starting place on a trick that was fast and offered up some challenges in the name of rough patches.
Not shying away, Carrick would let it all hang out as he went to work against some of the best in California as he continues to soak up valuable seat time. Turning in a nice performance, Carrick would close the Asparagus Cup opener out with a 17th place finish.
Back in action on Saturday night, Carrick would time in sixth quickest in time trials and grid the field from the sixth starting spot in his heat race. With a transfer spot in his grasps, Carrick’s night would unfortunately not last much longer as engine issues would seem him bring his entry to a stop and ultimately bring his night to an end.
“Thanks to all our guys for working so hard,” Carrick said. “We will get our issues resolved and try again this weekend.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
ON TAP: Blake is slated to return to action on Friday night in Chico, CA and on Saturday in Placerville, CA.
