Blake Carrick 17th with Sprint Car Challenge Tour

PETERSEN MEDIA: One week removed from a busy excursion through Oklahoma, Blake Carrick was in action aboard the Carrick Racing No. 38B machine as he picked up a 17th place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Placerville Speedway.

“It was nice to get back in the Sprint Car after all the rain in California,” Carrick said. “It was a tough field of cars, but I felt pretty good with how things went.”

32 cars checked in for the tour’s season opening event, and Carrick got the ball rolling by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry in seventh quickest in his time trials group.

Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA product would quickly move into sixth as he chased after the fifth and final transfer position into the 35-lap feature event.

Coming up just one position short, Carrick would find himself on the front row of the 15-lap semi, where he would be in search of one of the four transfer spots that was up for grabs.

In the semi, Carrick would find himself in a torrid battle at the front of the field as he raced with the likes of Ryan Bernal, Tony Gualda, and Ryan Robinson. As the lead pack was able to break away, Carrick would settle into the third position and keep his night rolling into the feature.

Taking the green flag from the 23rd starting position, Carrick was very careful deep in the field. With the track offering up difficulty to some, the youngster continued to focus on hitting his marks and running a patient race.

Going to work, Carrick would pick up a handful of positions on this night as he would accept the checkered flag with a 17th place finish.

“The track was tough, but it was good to get laps on a place that was rough and tricky,” Carrick noted. “Proud of the team for coming through a tough ‘B’ and making the ‘A’.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake is scheduled to compete Friday night in Chico, CA and on Saturday in Placerville, CA.
