Blake Carrick 2nd at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway for the first time since winning the Forni Classic back on July 25th, Blake Carrick had another strong run on the high banked quarter mile as he finished second on Saturday night.

“Saturday night I fell back early in the feature, and once I got going time ran out,” Blake Carrick said. “Second to your brother kind of leaves a funky taste in your mouth for sure.”

With 29 cars checked in at the track on Saturday, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine in fifth quickest in time trials before pocketing a fourth place finish in his heat race.

Earning a berth in the redraw thanks in part to brother, Tanner, winning his heat race, the three pill placed Carrick in the second row of the 25-lap feature event.

With the race getting off to a slow starts due to a couple of stoppages, Carrick would fall back in the early goings as he found himself back in the fifth position.

As the race finally got into a rhythm, Carrick was finally able to settle into his own groove as he moved into second on the eighth lap. With his brother setting a very strong pace out front, Carrick would do a great job of keeping pace as he got through traffic methodically.

Getting stronger in the later stages of the race, Carrick would close in on his brother, but on this night he would end the race with a second place finish.

Also in action on Friday night at Ocean Speedway, Carrick would open his night up by timing in ninth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Finding himself on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would pick up the win before earning a seventh place finish in the Dash.

On a very hooked up Ocean Speedway surface, passing would prove to be tough as Carrick held down the seventh position for the duration of the race. When the Ed Entz checkered flag was displayed to the field, Carrick would finish in the seventh spot.

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
