PETERSEN MEDIA: Having a nightmarish night at Placerville Speedway during his most recent outing back on July 4th, Blake Carrick put together a much better night on Saturday as he was able to notch his 23rd Top-10 finish of the season as he finished eighth.
“We had a pretty tough night the last time we ran Placerville, so it felt good to get back, and have some speed and get a decent finish,” Blake Carrick said. “Thanks to the guys for all they do for our team.”
With 29 cars checked into the pita area, Carrick would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38b machine in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick would battle with Andy Gregg for the top spot, which was pivotal as a win comes with a berth in the redraw. Unable to get back by Gregg, Carrick would finish second and still safely transfer into the feature event.
Gridding the field form the 10th starting position for the 25-lap feature event, the Lincoln, CA driver would settle into 10th during the opening stanzas before moving into ninth on the fifth lap.
Amidst a 13 lap non strop green flag run to open the race up, Carrick would continue to run in the ninth position when the race’s first caution flag was waved and brought up a double file restart.
Jumping into eighth on the restart, Carrick would then use a lap 15th restart to race his way into sixth. Finding himself in a hotly contested battle from sixth-tenth, Carrick would actually find himself in 10th when the final stoppage of the night came on the 22nd circuit.
Getting to ninth when the green flag was displayed, Carrick made a nice last lap move to net eighth coming to the checkered flag.
“It was a fast paced feature, and restarts were pretty good to us,” Carrick said. “Like I said, good to get back in the Top-10 at Placerville.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
