Blake Carrick Bags Another Top Five in Chico, CA

Updated: Aug 21, 2019

PETERSEN MEDIA: Fresh off of a Top-Five run at Placerville Speedway, Blake Carrick had another good weekend of racing in California highlighted by a fifth place run on Friday night in Chico, CA.

“It was a really good weekend of racing,” Blake Carrick said. “We were in the mix up front on Friday night, and on Saturday in Merced, CA we had a good run going until a late tangle relegated us to the back.”

Checking in at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B entry in third quickest in time trials. Moving into the ‘Fast Dash’, Carrick would slip back to finish third which placed him 10th on the starting grid in the feature event.

Slicing and dicing his way through the field, Carrick would work through the Top-10, and find himself all the way up into the fourth position. Continuing to work in fourth, a slew of green-white-checkered finishes would cost him a position as he would slip to finish fifth on this night.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Merced Speedway where Carrick would make his first ever appearance to the central California bullring.

With 34 cars in the field, Carrick timed in third fastest in his group and found himself on the front row of his heat race.

Battling with Cole Macedo up front in the early laps of the race, a surging Kyle Hirst would make his way past Carrick as he would finish third and transfer directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Lining up 14th in the ‘A’, Carrick would take a liking to the slick surface as he was able to work his way into the Top-10 and up into the seventh position.

Getting together with another car, Carrick would give up his Top-10 position. Working his way back forward, the Lincoln, CA driver capped his night with a 12th place finish.

“Big thanks to all of my guys for continuing to work hard for me, give me a good car, and help me improve,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to getting back up to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
