Blake Carrick Bags Two ASCS National Tour Top-10’s

Updated: May 22, 2020

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the show with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour during the final night of action in Arizona gave Blake Carrick the confidence he needed as the series came to California where he picked up two Top-10 finishes.

“We had a really fast racecar in Arizona, and I was really confident in our stuff heading into the weekend,” Carrick said. “We locked into both shows from qualifiers and made to really good runs into the Top-10.”

Friday night in Merced, CA, Carrick would line the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B up on the front row of his heat race. Holding on to the second spot, Carrick would move into a qualifier later in the night and advance from fifth to fourth.

With points from preliminary action being tallied up, Carrick sat 14th which placed him directly in the feature event where he would take the green flag from the outside of the seventh row.

As the night moved on, the track would continue to slick off and create a wide surface for the 30-lap feature. From the 14th starting position, Carrick would methodically make his way forward as he battled the Lucas Oil ASCS regulars as well as some of the best in California.

When the dust settled on the Friday night feature event, Carrick picked up his first Top-10 finish of the season by way of an eighth-place run.

Following Saturday night’s rain out, Carrick and his team made the short trip to Petaluma Speedway for the finale night of action with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Again, finding himself on the front row of his heat race Carrick would pick up a second-place finish and move into a qualifier. Finishing fifth in the qualifier, Carrick again found himself locked into the 30-lap feature event where he lined up on the outside of the seventh row.

On a track that offered up a bottom groove and a little top groove, Carrick was able to work around the Petaluma Speedway gumbo and get inside the Top-10. The closing laps saw him hook up in a battle with older brother, Tanner.

As they jockeyed for position it was Blake getting the better of the two as he would hold the eighth position as the checkered flag was displayed to the field.

“Really cool to come forward both nights and pick up two Top-10 finishes,” Carrick added. “Really excited to get back after this weekend for two nights at Silver Dollar Speedway.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
