Blake Carrick Charges to Third Place Finish at Silver Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA: After hopping the curb late in Friday night’s Silver Cup opening night feature event, Blake Carrick bounced back beautifully on Saturday night as he charged from his eighth place starting position to finish third.

“I hate pulling the eight pill,’ Blake Carrick joked, referencing his Saturday night draw. “Friday night we were good, I just made a mistake when my right rear started to go down, and on Saturday night we overcame my draw and came away with a third-place finish.

Carrick continued his hot start to the season by kicking things off with his first ever fast time award at Silver Dollar Speedway. Based on his qualifying efforts, the Lincoln, CA driver was on the front row of his heat race and promptly went on to grab the win aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No.38B machine.

Earning a spot in the nightly redraw the six-pill put Carrick in the third row to start the feature event on a very fast a heavy racing surface. Slipping back to the eighth spot when the feature came to life, passing would be tough with the track staying so good in the feature.

As the laps clicked off, Carrick’s right rear tire would start to lose pressure, a less than ideal situation on such a hooked-up track. Doing all he could from the seat of his machine, the 19th lap would see Carrick trip over the cushion in turns three and four and bicycle his machine to a stop, knocking him out of the Top-10.

Though able to restart, Carrick would end his night with a 14th place finish.

Back in action on Saturday night for the Silver Cup finale, Carrick continue to showcase a ton of speed around the Silver Dollar Speedway ¼ mile as he would time in second fastest in time trials on this night.

Picking up a heat race win just as he did on Friday night, Carrick’s draw would place him on the outside of the fourth row for the 30-lap Silver Cup finale.

On a track that was a bit more racy, Carrick would slip back to 10th during the opening stanzas of the race. In what would end up being a 19-lap green flag run to start the race, Carrick would find himself back up in the eighth spot when the caution flew.

Using some late race restarts to his advantage, Carrick would make a couple of extremely nice moves to net a podium when the race concluded as he closed the weekend out with a third-place finish.

“It was definitely a night I wish I drew better, but really happy with how our night ended and to be back up on the podium.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

ON TAP: Blake Carrick gets right back to work this Friday and Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
