PETERSEN MEDIA: One week removed from taking a wild ride at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA, Blake Carrick was back in action at Stockton Dirt Track where he picked up an eighth place finish during the Jimmy Sills Classic.
“I think the night went pretty well,” Blake Carrick said. “With the two heat race format we worked our way into the Dash, and went forward in that. In the feature I just made a few mistakes but still managed to finish I the Top-10.”
Lining up in the fourth row of his first heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would go to work aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B machine as he picked up a couple of important positions as he finished fifth.
In the second row of heat races, Carrick would line up on the front row and lose a position as he would take the checkered with a third place finish.
On the strength of both of his heat finishes, Carrick would move into the Dash where he would drive forward from sixth and finish third.
On a very slick Stockton Dirt Track surface, Carrick would slip back to sixth in the early laps as he continued to figure things out. Getting into fifth on a lap five restart, Carrick would find himself battling for position with Kyle Offill and Willie Croft. Holding his own against some veteran racer’s Carrick would lose the handle on the white flag lap and give up a few positions as he brought out the caution.
Restarting in front of cars that were a lap down for the green-white-checkered restart, Carrick would close his night out with an eighth place finish.
“Unfortunately a couple of mistakes cost us a better finish,” Carrick added. “It was a busy night with Tanner racing so, so a big thanks to everyone that helped us out all night.”
