Blake Carrick Second at Marysville Raceway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting two night of racing in over the weekend, Blake Carrick turned in a very good showing that saw him pick up a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway before battling for the win and finishing second on Sunday night at Marysville Raceway.
“We had a really good car all weekend long,” Blake Carrick said. “We put ourselves in a good position in our heat on Saturday night which led to a really good result, and on Sunday we timed in well and had a good night from there.”
Sunday night at Marysville Raceway, Carrick would go out early and set the standard in time trials. Earning quick time honors aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil No. 38B, Carrick would race to a third-place finish.
Moving into the redraw based on his qualifying time, the six pill would place in the third row of the 25-lap feature event. On the slick and racy Marysville Raceway surface, Carrick would get off to a great start as he jumped up into third on the opening lap and began pressuring for second.
Jumping into second, Carrick would then begin to chase down race leader, John Michael Bunch as they approached traffic. Throwing a couple of big moves at the leader, Carrick was unable to complete the pass but continue to hound him.
As traffic began to intensify, Carrick got back on the leader’s bumper, but an untimely yellow would give the leaders clear track with just seven markers left. In clear track Carrick could would get back up to bunch with just two laps to go but would simply run out of time as he closed his weekend with a very impressive second place run.
Just one night earlier, Carrick and his team were in action at Placerville Speedway’s season opening event. Timing in second fastest in his time trial group, Carrick would find himself in the third position to start his heat race.
Using the low groove, Carrick would power his way to the race lead and go on to grab the win. By way of his win the Lincoln, CA driver moved into the Dash where he would start and finish sixth.
Lining up on the outside of the third row for the 30-lap feature event, Carrick would spend much of the race battling for position inside the Top-10. Admittedly not being as aggressive as he should have been, Carrick would cap Saturday with a sixth place finish.
“Big thanks to all my guys for their hard work,” Carrick said. “It was a fun weekend, and really happy with our results.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
