Blake Carrick Sixth with SCCT at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Blake Carrick would turn in a sound performance that saw him pick up a sixth-place finish as the series gets right back to racing action this coming weekend.

“After having some tough luck last weekend, it was nice to get back to racing and have a good run,” Blake Carrick said. “Petaluma is a tricky place, so I am happy with a sixth-place result and I am looking forward to getting back to Chico, CA this weekend for two nights of action.”

With 26 cars making the tow to Petaluma Speedway on a frigid Spring night, Carrick would get his night underway by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the inside groove would be a little greasy and it would allow the outside car to get the jump over Carrick. Able to settle into second, Carrick would finish in that position and punch his ticket directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Missing out on a Dash spot, the Lincoln, CA driver would roll off the starting grid from the ninth position on a very tacky and hooked up racing surface.

Taking the green flag from the fifth row, Carrick was able to make a push towards the Top-5. Despite slipping back to 11th in the opening laps, Carrick would use a lap nine restart to reclaim the ninth spot.

Continuing to run ninth, another restart on the 16th lap would allow him to make another move and take over the seventh position. Turning in some extremely fast laps on a very hooked up surface, Carrick would grab the sixth position at the race’s halfway point.

Once in sixth, Carrick found himself chasing after the likes of Colby Copeland, Justyn Cox, and Ryan Bernal as the field played a high-speed game of chess through lapped traffic.

When the checkered flag flew on the fast-paced event, Carrick would bring home a sixth-place finish as he now readies for a doubleheader weekend in Chico, CA.

“Thanks to our guys for working hard and putting me in a position to get a good finish,” Carrick said. “Can’t wait to do it again this weekend.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will be in action at Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday and Saturday night.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-17, Wins-1, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-11
