Fresh off of his second career Trophy Cup this past weekend, Lincoln, CA driver, Blake Carrick is ready to get back to racing locally as he heads to the Spooktacular on Saturday night at Marysville Raceway in Marysville, CA.
“Trophy Cup is a tough event, and not having a ton of laps at the Thunderbowl makes it that much more difficult,” Blake Carrick said. “We were in the ‘B’s all weekend and we were able to forward against some really good cars, we just couldn’t seem to get over that final hurdle.”
Thursday night, Carrick would find himself in the 17th starting position in the ‘B’ aboard the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed entry, and on the slick and racy surface his had his elbows up.
Taking on some tough competition, Carrick would gain 10 spots as he finished seventh and looked to better himself on Friday.
Going from 12th to sixth in the Friday night ‘B’, Carrick’s point total put him on the pole of a Saturday night heat race as he looked to acquire more points for a shot at the feature event.
A jumped started put him back two rows, and he would take the green flag from sixth. Picking up a couple of positions, Carrick’s fourth place finish put him in the Saturday ‘B’ where he would line up 20th in his search for a transfer position.
In a hard fought ‘B’, Carrick would do as he did in the two previous night and that is charge forward in the semi. In what would easily be a feature event on any given night at any given track, Carrick would close his night out with a 10th place finish.
Putting the Trophy Cup in his rear view mirror, Carrick is looking forward to racing close to home this weekend as he return to Maryville Raceway to take part in their annual Spooktacular event.
“Thanks to everyone who lent a hand over the weekend in Tulare, CA,” Carrick said. “It was a tough weekend, but we had some fun and I feel like we got better. Really excited to race close to home this weekend and see what we can do in Marysville, CA.”
Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support.
