Pair of Third Place Finishes Highlight Weekend for Blake Carrick

PETERSEN MEDIA: A busy weekend of racing was good to Blake Carrick. Carrick would pick up third place finishes at Ocean Speedway and Petaluma Speedway, and would tally a sixth-place effort at Placerville Speedway.

“Honestly, I wish I could have some better luck in these redraws,” Blake Carrick said. “My guys gave me another really good car all weekend long, but these races are tough to get going forward when you line up eighth against some stiff competition.”

Friday night at Ocean Speedway, Carrick would line up fourth in the feature event after finishing fourth in the Ocean Sprints Dash.

On a very slick surface, the youngster from Lincoln, CA would slip back to seventh in the early stages of the race. Finally able to settle into a groove, Carrick would start making up the lost ground.

Racing his way back into the Top-Five, rubber would start to go down on the speedway and things would get a little tricky. Able to get into fourth, Carrick would set his sights on older brother, Tanner, for the final spot on the podium.

Able to wrestle the position away, Carrick would take over third as passing would soon become non-existent. When the checkered flag flew, Carrick capped his night off with another podium run.

Saturday night at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA, Carrick would look to build off of last week’s runner up finish. Timing in 13th fastest in time trials with 33 cars in the pit area, Carrick would win his heat race and move into the feature event as well as the redraw.

Pulling the six, Carrick would take the green flag from the outside of the third row. On a very slick surface that would see most of the field work the cushion, passing would be tough during an extended 20-lap green flag run.

Needing to capitalize on mistakes or throw some big moves to gain position, Carrick would keep his spot in line, as he finished sixth on this night.

Sunday evening saw Carrick and his team make their way to Petaluma Speedway for the track’s first event of the 2021 season. Timing in eighth fastest aboard his CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil machine, Carrick would race his way to another heat race win before pulling the vaunted eight pill in the draw.

Lining up in the fourth row of the feature event, Carrick would do a nice job of slicing and dicing his way forward on the hooked-up surface. From his eighth starting position, Carrick would find himself on another podium as he closed the night out with a third-place finish.

“It was a busy weekend, and I have to thank all of our guys for working so hard on our cars,” Blake Carrick noted.

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will be in action at Ocean Speedway on Friday night, and Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
