Seventh At Chico For Blake Carrick Amidst Three Nights of Action

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the opening two legs of King of the West Speedweek, Blake Carrick would opt to stick around Silver Dollar Speedway for an additional night of racing action and pick up his best finish of the week by way of a sixth place run.

“It was a good week of racing to battle the KWS guys, and get a 360ci race in,” Blake Carrick said. “Wednesday and Thursday were a bit of a struggle, but Friday night went well.”

Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, Carrick would get off to a very good start as the Lincoln, CA driver timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil machine in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials which would lock him directly into the Fast Dash.

Running sixth in the Dash, Carrick would roll off the starting grid from the 10th starting position with 30-laps to work with. Working his way up to fourth in the fast paced feature event, Carrick would look for more but would get his machine a tick out of shape.

Recovering from a near spin, Carrick would give up a couple of positions, but still capped a busy week off with a seventh place finish.

Wednesday night things got underway for Carrick and company as he checked into Placerville Speedway to battle with the King of the West Series.

Timing in 16th quickest in time trials, a third place finish in heat race action would transfer the youngster directly into the feature event. Working his way forward, Carrick would jump the cushion in turn two and catch the back stretch hill and get upside down and end his night.

Traveling to Silver Dollar Speedway on Thursday night, Carrick would time in 26th fastest in time trials as he battled a tight car on a heavy surface.

Finishing sixth in his heat race, Carrick would be relegated to the Last Chance Showdown on this night. With the surface still extremely fast and hard to pass on, Carrick would battle until the final laps, but his night would end as he finished sixth in the semi.

“Placerville we were decent, but I made a mistake and got upside down,” Carrick said. “Thursday night in Chico was a struggle. It was really nice to end the week with a good run there on Friday night with some big races coming up there in a couple of weeks.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, and Arai for their continued support
