Blake Carrick Fights Forward to 12th at Placerville Speedway

Blake Carrick has simply been impressive during his first year aboard a winged 360ci sprint car. In his 16th career start on Saturday night, the Lincoln, CA driver overcame his 20th starting position and worked his way forward to a 12th place finish.

“It was a good night on Saturday,” Blake Carrick said. “Anytime you can go up against a bunch of veterans and move forward is a night you can be happy with.”

Checking into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Carrick would open his night up by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil No. 38 entry in 17th quickest of the 23 cars that were packed into the pit area for the track’s penultimate points race.

Running sixth in his heat race behind fellow rookie driver, Bubba DeCaires, Carrick would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where his third place finish put him safely in the 25-lap feature event.

Rolling off from the 20th starting position, Carrick would have his work cut out for him on the racy Placerville Speedway surface. With the top being the preferred line by most, Carrick was up for the challenge as he began working his way forward as he raced with several grizzled veterans of Placerville Speedway.

On a night that saw a handful of stoppages, Carrick would take advantage of some restarts as he neared the Top-10. Late in the race the battle for 11th turned into a family affair as he began racing with older brother, Tanner, who was making his war forward form the back of the pack.

Mixing it up with his sibling, Carrick would end up in the 12th position where he would close his night and go on to take the checkered flag.

“It’s good to get a ton of laps any night,’ Carrick added. “We are definitely competitive now so I feel like with more laps the strong we get. Thanks to my family and everyone that makes this all possible.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support
