Blake Carrick Closes Nor-Cal Season Out in Stockton, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA » Blake Carrick Closes Nor-Cal Season Out in Stockton, CA

Though still with a couple more on his calendar in 2018, Blake Carrick closed out his rookie season in Nor-Cal by competing at Stockton Dirt Track over the weekend during the 35th Annual Tribute To Gary Patterson.

“It was an okay weekend,’ Blake Carrick said. “We couldn’t get out of the ‘B’ either night, but it was a nice change of pace to get on a bigger track.”

Friday night the weekend came to life with an unsanctioned winged 360ci race that was loaded with 38 cars checked into the pit area. Carrick got his night opened up by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No 69 entry in 32nd fastest.

Not getting timed in where he wanted to be, the younger Carrick had his work cut out for himself in heat race competition. Working his way up to a sixth place finish, the Lincoln, CA driver would miss out on an automatic transfer into the feature event and would be forced into the Friday night ‘B’ Main.

‘B’ Main action would then see Carrick make a strong effort to obtain a transfer position into the feature event, but after the 12-lap showdown an eighth place finish would bring his night to a close.

Competing with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night back at Stockton Dirt Track for the final race in Nor-Cal of the season, Carrick would get timed in ninth fastest in his qualifying group before advancing to finish seventh in his heat race.

Moving into a strong 15-lap ‘B’ Main event on this night, Carrick would grid the field from the middle pack with just four spots up for grabs into the final SCCT feature event of the season.

With a couple of cars tangling in front of him to get things started, Carrick would pick up a few spots early as he would take what he could with no laps complete. Driving a patient race, Carrick would get up to sixth late in the race and look the challenge for a transfer position only to come up short and bring his night to an early end.

“Going against these guys on a new track to me was challenging but beneficial,” Blake Carrick added. “Thanks to the team for their hard work and helping me get comfortable each time we hit the speedway.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction for their continued support
