Blake Carrick Bags First Win of 2021

PETERSEN MEDIA: Blake Carrick wasted no time picking up his first win of the 2021 season as he simply dominated Saturday night’s feature event at Marysville Raceway, marking his first ever win at the speedway.

“Qualifying wasn’t great, but it was good in enough to put us in a good spot for our heat race,” Blake Carrick said. “We were able to get the job done, and that put us in the redraw and the one pill put us on the front row of the feature.”

A total of 24 cars checked in at Marysville Raceway for the track’s season opening event, and Carrick would get his night started off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38b machine in 12th fastest in time trials.

Not exactly where he had hoped to be on the speed chart, Carrick would find himself on the front row of his heat race where a win would put him in the nightly redraw. With the low groove of the speedway little a bit slippery, Carrick would take advantage of starting in the outside lane as he was able to get the jump.

Never looking back in his heat, the Lincoln, CA driver would race his way to the win, and earn a spot in the redraw where the one pill placed him on the pole for the 25-lap feature event.

Getting the initial jump, contact back in the field would force the yellow lights to flash on negating the start and re stacking the field. The second start would be just as good for the youngster, as he again powered his way to the lead and began setting a torrid pace.

On the hooked-up Marysville Raceway surface, Carrick would only be slowed by the caution again when it was displayed on the eighth circuit. With the field on his rear bumper, he would again nail the restart and open up a sizeable gap on the field.

Getting through traffic flawlessly, Carrick was not to be denied on this night as he picked up his first win of the young 2021 season, and his first career win at Marysville Raceway.

“Last year we were able to win at a few different tracks, but Marysville was not one of them,” Carrick said. “Very cool to get a win so early in the season and at a different track. Thanks to my team for giving me a really good car.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
