Blake Carrick Grabs Third Win of Season

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

PETERSEN MEDIA: Blake Carrick picked up his third win of the 2020 season on Wednesday night at Marysville Raceway, marking the third different venue he has been victorious at during this race season to date.

“This has been a really great year for our team, and I have to thank Clark and all the guys who help on this team,” Blake Carrick said. “We have been really fast everywhere we have raced at.”

Wednesday in Marysville, CA, Carrick got the night started off by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B in third fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in second row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA pilot would race his way to a second-place finish and move directly into the 25-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag alongside Andy Forsberg in the feature event, Carrick would quickly move to the high side of the speedway where he would use the momentum to race around Forsberg and take the early race lead.

Out front, Carrick continued to flex his muscle as he kept his right rear just inches off the Marysville Raceway wall on both ends of the speedway. Fending off challenges form the likes of Andy Forsberg, Sean Becker, and older brother, Tanner, Carrick would not be denied on this night.

Despite a late caution putting the field back on his rear bumper, Carrick would nail the final restart and race his way to his third feature event win of the 2020 season.

Friday night saw Carrick and company make the trip to Ocean Speedway for a final tune up before this Saturday’s 60th Annual Johnny Key Classic.

Timing in ninth fastest amongst the 33 drivers checked in for the Friday night event, Carrick would run second in his heat race to Zane Blanchard.

While he transferred directly into the feature event, Carrick would miss out on a spot in the Dash, and would take the green flag for the 30-lap feature event from the 13th starting position.

With the track being primarily bottom dominant on this night, Carrick would start in the bottom groove though passing would prove to be a little difficult.

Slowly working his way forward, Carrick would take what he could get as he was able to crack the Top-10 on the on the fourth lap before slipping back to 14th on the fifth lap while drivers jockeyed for position.

Continuing in a pack of drivers all vying for position inside the Top-10, Carrick would get back into 10th on the 22ndlap before racing into ninth on the 29th lap, where he would go on to finish.

“It was great to get another win, and to get another Top-10 at Ocean Speedway,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to getting back to Ocean Speedway this weekend for the Johnny Key Classic.”

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
